Free loft insulation for Peterborough residents

Lifestyle | Article

PECT Consultancy Limited, the consultancy arm of environmental charity Peterborough Environment City Trust is launching the second round of a scheme which will allow Peterborough residents to insulate their homes for free or at substantially reduced rates.

This will help residents save money on household bills, as well as cutting carbon emissions from homes, helping to protect the environment.

Project Manager Mark Randall explains, ‘Without insulation homes lose up to 75% of heat through the roof, floors and walls, with another 25% lost through windows and doors.

Adding home insulation will improve comfort levels in homes, reduce heating bills, and help save the environment through reducing harmful carbon dioxide emissions. PECT has been working hard to secure this grant for Peterborough residents and we are delighted to be able to launch it now’.

The free loft insulation scheme is subject to qualifying criteria and is on a first come first served basis due to a limited fund.

Qualifying Criteria for free loft insulation scheme:

  • Properties must be owner occupied or privately rented, and

  • Households must be in receipt of a means tested benefit such as working families tax credit or pensions credit.

Those who do not qualify for the 100% grant could still qualify for some assistance towards the cost of insulating their home. It could cost as little as £199 for cavity wall insulation or £249 for loft insulation for a 3 bed semi-detached house.

To find out whether you are eligible for a grant please contact PECT’s Energy Services Team on freephone 0800 7834761.
