Peterborough Rape Crisis Counselling Group works hard to ‘support
and empower female survivors of rape and sexual abuse’ and had
received £20,000 of the Victim Fund monies, for one year only, to
have the use of a Development Worker and training for 15 new
volunteers. This funding runs out in January 2008.
Therefore the group finds itself in
a situation where is has no recognised funding available and is thus
unable to continue its excellent work.
Stewart commented: “I have serious
concerns about this situation and have therefore written to the
Minister asking her to investigate this funding crisis.
“I hope she feels it appropriate to
reconsider the plan to cease funding in January 2008”.
